The chapter is co-host to the 89th Anniversary Eastern Regional Conference.
Host chapter Kappa Beta Sigma along with Xi Epsilon and Alpha Alpha Phi chapters
put on one of the best conferences that can be remembered in the region.
One of the highligts of the conference was the awards banquet. The honorees
were the Rev. Al. Sharpton (Social Action Award), Mr. Luther Gathling (Bigger
and Better Business), Bro. Kevin West Chi Sigma (Education), and the Rev. Timothy
Wright (Lifetime Achievement).

Beta Lambda started sponsoring a child in Africa. His name is Tesfahun Shiferaw.
He is 6 years old, and he lives in Ethopia. His parents sell food items on the
side of the road, but it is not enough for his family. Their total family income
is less than $400 dollars a year. Beta Lambda past and present support this

Beta Lambda sponsored a forum on poltical prisoners. The key note speaker was
Mr. S.E. Anderson. Mr. Anderson is an Education Director at Medgar Evers College.
He was a co-founder of the Black Panthers, a member of the Student Non-Violent
Committee.

50th Anniversary Founders Day Carver Memorial Dinner at McDonalds
Dining Room, Macon Street and Stuyvesant Avenue, sponsored jointly by Beta Lambda
and Kappa Beta Sigma chapters. Speakers of the evening were Bro. Huston Lovell,
Esq., Past National President of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc., who delivered
the Founders Day Address, and Bro. Morris Haynes, Dean of Pledges, Beta
Lambda Chapter, delivered the Carver Memorial Address. The Beta Lambda Chapter
Education Award was presented to Soror Almira Coursey, eighth grade advisor
at J.H.S. 258, Brooklyn, and a member of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority. A Service Award
was given to Beta Lambda Vice-President, Bro. Bernard Johnson. The Kappa Beta
Sigma Chapter Awards were presented to each of the committee chairmen: Bro.
Thomas Ellington, Bigger and Better Business, the community award to Mr. Duke
Colehurst of the D & C Superette which is owned by Mr. Colhurst and Mr.
Chester Wiltshire. The successful business venture was established in 1958.
Receiving the chapter award was Bro. Joseph Anderson of the Dun Rite Pharmacy.
